As general elections 2024, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz has secured additional support from Jehlum and Sargodha, where disgruntled factions of the party have reconciled with the leadership.

Candidates in the two cities have withdrawn in favour of PMLN’s candidates, according to Aaj News.

Raja Matloob Mehdi and Raja Talib Mehdi withdrew their nomination papers, showing support for PMLN’s Farrukh Altaf.

The development came after their meeting with former Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

On the other hand, Hamid Hameed from Sargodha also withdrew from the election, indicating his support for Dr Liaqat of PMLN.

Shahbaz Sharif appreciated the spirit of the candidates in upholding party discipline and expressed pride as they honoured the party’s leadership.

He emphasized the need for unity within the party to address challenges such as inflation, Pakistan’s economic recovery, and self-reliance.
