Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has come out in support of a recent Senate resolution calling for a delay in elections.

He added that the seriousness of the situation needs to be taken into account, and parties should atleast be able to reach out to voters in peace.

However, the JUI chief clarified that if the elections were ‘imposed’, his party would go on and participate in them and boycott was not on the cards.

The resolution was presented by Dilawar Khan when just around a dozen lawmakers were present in the house.
