PTI song writer Asim Tanha gunned down in Bhakkar
Poet Asim Tanha who wrote the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party anthem was allegedly gunned down in Punjab over a personal feud that started with a heated exchange.
Locals said that Majid Khan alias Asim Tanha was fatally shot by suspect-turned-victim Samiullah after the two exchanged harsh words in Daili Namdar area of Punjab’s Bhakkar district a day earlier.
Later, Tanha’s brother Sajid shot dead Samiullah to take revenge for his brother’s killing.
According to Aaj News correspondent, the incident stemmed from a family dispute which resulted in the killing of the two people.
The police arrived at the scene after they were informed of the shooting and cordoned off the area.
A first information report of the killings was registered while the police initiated an investigation to probe the matter.
Meanwhile, police said that raids were being conducted to arrest Sajid who fled the scene after allegedly shooting dead Samiullah.
Tanha was a poet and wrote poetry in Urdu, Punjabi and Siraiki language. He also wrote PTI’s famous anthem “Hum Koi Ghulam to Nahi”.
He also had a book titled ‘Hum Koi Ghulam to Nahi’ carrying a compilation of his songs and anthems.
