Indian driver wins UAE Dh20 million prize
Munavar Fairoos, an Indian expat working in the United Arab Emirates, won the Big Ticket Live draw taking home the Dh20 million grand prize, Khaleej Times reported on Monday.
“I’m not sure yet because I really did not expect this to happen. I’m still shocked, and will need to take some time think about my options,” he said when asked about his plans after winning the draw.
Fairoos who was previously a resident of Abu Dhabi works as a private driver in Al Ain.
He said that he has been buying tickets every month for the past five years, and yet was shocked to learn of his big win.
The Indian national, who purchased his winning ticket with a group of 30 people, will be splitting the prize money evenly.
On December 30, 2023, an overseas Pakistani won 15 million dirham (Rs1,150,500,000) worth of jackpot prize in the UAE. The expatriate plans to perform Hajj.
Mohammed Inam, who hails from Islamabad, became millionaire after winning the Easy6 game at the Emirates Draw. He lives in UAE and works at a private firm in Abu Dhabi as a finance auditor.
When converted to Pakistani rupee, the prize money is worth around one billion one hundred fifty million five hundred thousand.
It is pertinent to mention that 10 lucky winners of Indian, Palestinian, Lebanese, and Saudi Arabian nationalities were also announced in a live draw a day earlier. Each of the winner took home cash prizes worth a total of Dh100,000.
