Former SSP Operations Islamabad Sajid Kiani on Tuesday recorded his statement before the inquiry commission in the Faizabad sit-in, rejecting the interference of any other institution in the operation against the TLP, sources said.

Kiani who served on the post of SSP operation Islamabad in 2017, is currently posted as the joint director of the Intelligence Bureau, the sources added.

According to sources, the top official recorded his statement for three hours in which he refuted the reports of any meddling by other institutions in the operation against the TLP.

Meanwhile, rumors emerged that the former chief of the country’s top spy agency Faiz Hameed was likely to be summoned in the upcoming week.

Reports said that the commission had prepared a questionnaire for the former ISI chief related to the 2017 sit-in in Islamabad.

The inquiry commission was formed under the chairmanship of retired IG Akhtar Ali Shah in the case after the Supreme Court rejected the fact-finding committee report of the government.

On November 15, Justice Qazi Faez remarked that the commission would be able to summon ex-army chiefs, prime ministers and chief justices as well.
