PTI chief Gohar rules out alliance with any political party

Says elections won’t be fair if returning officers will be from executive
Will not unite with any party in the general elections: Chairman PTI Gohar Khan - Aaj News

PTI Chairman Gohar Khan has rule out alliance with any political party, saying that the former ruling party’s popularity among people does not require any such option.

“PTI has so much popularity in the country that we are not going to have any alliance with political parties which were part of the Pakistan Democratic Movement,” he told Aaj News in Peshawar. “We are in no mood to have alliance with any of them.”

Elections are due on February 8 in Pakistan, with political parties making moves to woo their voters and welcome electables in their fold.

“We will have our candidates and fight from their constituencies. We will try that we will contest on our symbol [bat],” he said and expressed hope that they would contest elections themselves.

When asked, he said that lawyers would get party tickets. But he added that it would follow party policies and make decision on merit to give opportunity to political workers.

He said that the party respects the Supreme Court order and added that “Plan B” was ready if the bat symbol was taken away from the party. But he was hopeful the party would retain its symbol.

Gohar was of the view that elections would not be fair if the returning officers were appointed from the executive.
