Pakistan on Tuesday summoned the Afghan Chargé d’Affaires to deliver a strong demarche over the deadly terrorist attack on security forces in Daraban of Dera Ismail Khan, the ministry of foreign affairs said in a statement.

“The attack, whose responsibility has been claimed by Tehreek-e-Jihad Pakistan, a terrorist group affiliated with the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), resulted in multiple causalities, including shahadat of twenty-three security personnel,” it added.

Earlier today, the security forces killed at least 27 terrorists in three different gun battles in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and left 25 troops martyred, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations, the media wing of the military.

According to the MoFA, the foreign secretary demanded the Afghan envoy to investigate and take swift action against the perpetrators of the attack and publicly condemn the terrorist attack at the highest level.

The secretary urged the Afghan government to take “immediate verifiable actions against all terrorist groups including their leadership and their sanctuaries.”

Pakistan demanded the Afghan envoy to apprehend and handover over the perpetrators of the attack and the outlawed TTP leadership in Afghanistan to Pakistan.

The foreign office once again called on the Afghan government to take necessary measures to end the persistent use of its soil for terrorism against Pakistan.
