Teams to engage politicians formed with Zardari, Bilawal consent: PPP’s Nasir Shah
PPP leader Nasir Hussain Shah said on Sunday that different committees on reaching out to politicians were formed with the consent of party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, rejecting an impression that they were unilaterally formed by PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari.
“This confusion that former president Asif Ali Zardari has nominated these names without the consent of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari or it was formed separately. It is not like that. All this has been happening with their consent,” he said in an interview with Shaukat Piracha on his show Rubaroo which was aired on Aaj News.
PPP leader Faisal Karim Kundi said on Saturday that Zardari formed a committee to reach out to other political personalities.
Nayyer Hussain Bukhari, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Faisal Karim Kundi, Muhammad Ali Shah Bacha, and Sajid Toori will be the members of a committee in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
For Sindh, Saeed Ghani and Nasir Hussain Shah and for Balochistan Chengez Khan Jamali, Rozi Khan Kakar and Sabir Ali Baloch are the members of the committees.
PPP’s Nasir Shah went on to add the party has been talking to different political parties and “personalities”. Everyone was respectable for the party, he added.
The decision was taken at a time when the PML-N was meeting different political parties in Sindh and Balochistan. PML-N Nawaz Sharif met with JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on November 21 after which the religiopolitical leader announced that both parties have decided to move forward on matters related to the election, including seat adjustment.
The PPP has maintained that there was not a level playing field for political parties and alleged that the PML-N was being favoured in Punjab.
Nasir Shah further tried to clarify that there were no differences between Zardari and Bilawal. “Unnecessarily, one thing was highlighted from the interview and no one is talking about the rest of the interview where he said ‘Bilawal was more educated and talented than him’.”
Zardari is the co-chairman of the PPP while his son is the chairman of the party.
He further added that Bilawal’s Dubai trip was already planned. Many media outlets claimed that the PPP chief went to Dubai after Zardari’s interview.
PPP leaders Faisal Karim Kundi and Sherry Rehman have also rejected such rumours. Moreover, Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari shared a family photo on Saturday and said: “Don’t believe the headlines - we’re only & always about family first.”
When asked whether the party would talk to the PTI, the former minister said that the PPP would talk to politicians, except those involved in the May 9 riots. He added that the former Sindh ruling party would make a decision after the PTI holds intra-party elections as per the demand of the Election Commission of Pakistan.
“Yes of course,” he said when asked if his party would talk to the MQM-P. According to Nasir Shah, they would also meet the PML-N.
“Our doors for talks are open for everyone,” he said.
