An accountability court in Rawalpindi approved a four-day physical remand of PTI Chairman Imran Khan in a case pertaining to the £190 million which means the national graft buster has got more time to interrogate him.

Judge Muhammad Bashir heard the case against the former prime minister in the Adiala Jail, which is located in the twin cities.

Deputy Prosecutor of National Accountability Court Sardar Muzaffar Abbasi and PTI chief lawyer Sardar Latif Khosa appeared in court. Khan was also present in the court.

At the outset of the hearing, the NAB deputy prosecutor sought a four-day remand of Khan and added that the investigation was still pending. They sought 10 days remand of the accused to complete the interrogation.

Khan’s lawyer Khosa contended it and maintained that the case was apparently closed after a written reply from a United Arab Emirates bank to the Supreme Court. He added that such a request should be rejected.

The court after hearing arguments from both sides and extended the suspect’s remand by four days in the case and asked NAB to produce him in court on Monday.

The case was adjourned until November 27. The court allowed NAB to interrogate him in the jail.

“The government of Imran Khan has no interference in the case,” Khan’s lawyer Khosa told reporters outside the court. “We told the court that all the amount came to the Supreme Court’s account from the United Kingdom.”

He alleged that NAB was maintaining “silence” in the Sharif family cases. Khosa quoted his client as saying that there was no level-playing field.
