Ekta Kapoor becomes first Indian woman to receive prestigious Emmy Award

Famous Indian Soap opera producer Ekta Kapoor has received the esteemed International Directorate Award at the 51st International Emmy Awards in New York and expressed gratitude to her family for their wholesome support to her.

When she appeared on the stage to receive the award with her fetching smile, she reminisced past in her speech. She recounted her experiences as a producer, beginning when she and her mother Shobha Kapoor founded Balaji Telefilms in her father Jeetendra’s garage.

Ekta claimed that she and her mother started a business with “lady producers” at a time when the industry was largely male-dominated.

Kapoor who started her career when she was just eighteen years old while expressing her sentiments said: “The irony is the world’s population is solely produced by women.” She also showed gratitude to her father and brother who were babysitting her son Ravi.

“I’d also like to thank the men in my life,” she remarked. My brother and father, are watching my son right now. You give my house a traditional, yet wholesome feel,“ Ekta said.

She added: “Thank you to Lakshya and Ravi, my nephew and son, who served as my surrogate babies and taught me that sometimes the hardest routes may lead to the most magical experiences.”

Ekta Kapoor was grateful to her country: “My motherland, I am bringing home your Emmy,” as she wrapped up her remarks.
