Mark Adiala jail’s prisoner attendance through video link: IHC

Orders to not produce prisoners only needed to mark attendance

Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court Aamer Farooq has directed to mark Adiala jail’s prisoner’s attendance through video link.

A meeting under the chair of Justice Farooq was held to discuss the production of Adiala jail prisoners before the IHC.

During the meeting, the inspector general of Islamabad said that millions of rupees are spent on the daily movement of prisoners from the prison facility to the court. He went on to add that around 50 vehicles are used on a daily basis to move the prisoners.

Justice Farooq directed to stop the practice of producing the prisoners who were just needed to mark their attendance at the court.

He directed the authorities to mark their attendance through a video link from the prison.

The superintendent of Adiala jail, DIA prisons secretary of law,, and chief commissioner of Islamabad also participated in the meeting.

During the meeting, the secretary of law and chief commissioner of the capital city briefed Justice Farooq about the construction of a jail in Islamabad.

They said that expenditure on the construction of the jail has increased ten times due to delays, on which Justice Farooq gave directions for the quick construction of the prison facility.
