Rawalpindi cleric arrested for attempting to rape 16-year-old boy
Police arrested a seminary teacher in Rawalpindi on Thursday after he was accused of trying to sexually assault a 16-year-old boy.
According to the FIR registered in the Naseerabad police station, a resident of Dhoke Gujran in Rawalpindi said that his 16-year-old son had been going to the Jamia Masjid Muhammad in Westridge to memorise the Quran for the last two years.
The father said that the child had been normal and had shown an interest in his studies until the last three months, when he suddenly started showing signs of being stressed.
Then on November 8, the boy started crying after he returned home from the seminary. When asked he revealed that he had been subjected to abuse and harassment for the last three months by his teacher Qari Umar Khattab.
The boy said that his Qari Umar would call him to his living quarters after the lesson ended where he would try to kiss him and touch him inappropriately.
The boy told his father that the qari had tried to rape him but he had screamed and threatened to tell his uncle.
However, on November 8, the qari had allegedly tried to force himself on the boy again and when the boy resisted, he beat him with punches, kicks and even a plastic pipe.
Following the FIR, Qari Umar was arrested and investigations are underway
