Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party allotted ‘Eagle’ symbol
The Election Commission of Pakistan announced on Thursday that the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party would be awarded ‘Eagle’ as the electoral symbol.
The decision came after weeks of deliberation after the party was formally registered by the ECP on October 5.
The IPP was formed by Jahangir Tareen along with a handful of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf defectors on June 8. Former PTI leader Aleem Khan was appointed the party’s president four days later.
While the party picked up steam initially by attracting more defectors from the PTI, which was reeling from the effects of May 9, the momentum slowly died down.
However, the party was in the news again recently after Farrukh Habib and Andleeb Abbas joined the party in October.
Earlier, the eagle symbol was allocated to General (retired) Pervez Musharraf’s All Pakistan Muslim League in the previous general election.
