PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif’s speech would centre on democratic stability and progress of the country, party leader Irfan Siddiqui has said.

“There are no unexpected things,” he said when asked in an interview with Asma Shirazi on her show Faisla Aap Ka which was aired on Aaj News on Thursday.

The former prime minister is scheduled to return home on October 21. Nawaz has been in exile since 2019 and has mostly lived in London after being disqualified for life in the Panama Papers case.

On Thursday, he arrived in Dubai from Jeddah where he had “some important” meetings. Siddiqui, who has been writing speeches for Nawaz, is also in UAE city.

“Mian [Nawaz Sharif] Sahib’s vision has been very clear. He has been the prime minister three times, if his periods are reviewed and his psychological philosophy is taken into consideration, his main goals are people, the country’s progress, and the stability of democracy. These ideas are very clear. You will find them in his speech as well and this will be his main narrative.”

Siddiqui went on to add that the PML-N supremo would definitely have a “formula and a thought” to bring the country out of the “fall” after his disqualification from the office of prime minister in 2017. He added that Nawaz would focus on that.

When asked about anything about the accountability of the ex-army chief and his spymaster in the speech, Siddiqui replied that the former prime minister has a narrative from which he has never backtracked.

He explained that the narrative pertained to the people whom the PML-N supremo believed damaged democracy and brought to power under an alleged conspiracy. He added that Nawaz held such developments dear in his political ideology.

“At the moment, his priority is to solve these [prevailing] problems. Rest assured he sticks to his ideology. The entire collective political leadership has to think on when that ideology can be used or what can be an appropriate time,” he said.

While responding to a query about the delayed schedule of Nawaz, Siddiqui said that it was due to “a few of his” meetings.

He further gave an evasive reply, saying that flights were delayed whether there was any “usual or important” meeting. The PML-N leader added that he neither knew the details of the meeting nor he could share them.

“There was an important meeting because of which his flight was delayed. But there is not much delay,” he stated.
