The interim government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has approved a program to provide free education facilities to out-of-school children in private schools with government funds.

The project aims to increase the rate of literacy and will initially cover the educational expenses of children of seven districts and six divisions who were unable to go to school due to the unavailability of government schools in the area.

According to the document available to Aaj News, shows that in the commencement the government will pay Rs1,000 for kindergarten students, Rs1,500 for up to grade five, while Rs2,000 monthly will be given to the schools per student of class eight gets education under the project.

Four schools from Mehmand and Khyber, three from Orakzai, two from Koram and two from north Waziristan will be taken under the project named Sabawan Schools Initiative programme.

The managing director of education for tribal areas said the total estimated cost for the project was Rs80 million.
