Three people, including a woman, were killed and three others injured in traffic accidents across different areas of Karachi early Monday morning.

So far this year, 223 people have died in traffic accidents in the city, including 161 men, 3 women, 23 boys, and 9 girls.

In addition, over 21,000 people have been injured, among them 1,764 men, 363 women, 90 boys, and 33 girls.

Seventy-five people have died in incidents involving heavy traffic.

Collisions with large vehicles have been particularly deadly: four people died in a crash with a dumper, 36 with a trailer, and 20 with a water tanker.

Seven people were run over by a Mazda and eight by buses.

Authorities’ safety measures, including CCTV cameras, the Safe City system, e-challans, and other electronic measures, have so far failed to curb the deadly accidents.
