The Higher Education Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has barred universities from affiliating colleges and institutions.

The HED also sent letters to 29 varsities in the province for violating its policies including Bacha Khan University in Charsadda, Gomal University in Dera Ismail Khan, Abbottabad University, and University of Lakki Marwat among others.

In its letter, the department directed the varsities to review their procedure of affiliating colleges and institutions, while stating that few universities went against its policies to affiliate institutions.

The HED stated colleges were running bachelor’s programmes without having a main campus for the BS faculty. The varsities that are affiliated with such colleges have violated rules as these institutions lack qualified faculty, academic block, and other necessary infrastructure, it added.

The provincial education department called for transferring such colleges to other varsities after issuing a no-objection certificate.
