FIA finds Imran, Qureshi guilty of leaking cypher as challan submitted before court
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) submitted on Saturday a challan (charge sheet) under the Official Secrets Act related to the cypher case in the special court.
The investigating agency has found Chairman PTI Imran Khan and Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi guilty of leaking state secrets.
In the challan submitted to the court, FIA has requested that Imran Khan and Shah Mehmood be tried and punished.
According to the sources, Asad Umar is not included in FIA’s accused list while former Principal Secretary Azam Khan has become FIA’s witness whose statement under sections 161 and 164 is attached with the challan. Azam Khan has effectively turned approver.
As per the challan, the PTI chairman violated the Official Secrets Act by keeping the cypher with him. A copy of the cypher reached Imran Khan but it was never returned, the challan said according to the sources.
