Half of Pakistani population becomes eligible to vote

Approximately 50% of Pakistanis are now eligible to vote in the upcoming general election, according to statistics issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan on Tuesday.

In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, the ECP shared a summary of registered voters which shows that more than 126.69 million Pakistanis will mark their fingerprints on ballot papers in polls.

The data was categorized on the basis of gender indicating that 68.58 million men and 58.4 million women can cast their votes. This is about a 15% gap.

In Punjab, 723 million people can cast their vote, while the number of eligible voters in Sindh, KP, and Balochistan is 2.66 million, 2.16 million, and 5.84 million, respectively.

The number of registered voters in the federal capital is 1.41 million.

The total number of voters has increased by 4.7 million from 122.196 million last year.
