Jugnu Mohsin, the wife of journalist Najam Sethi, has claimed that some powerful forces in Europe and the United States were active in efforts for the release of incarcerated PTI chief Imran Khan.

“The PTI chairman and his wife will not name these countries,” she said in an interview with Aaj News’ Shaukat Piracha on his show Rubaroo on Sunday. “I am gathering my information in this regard. Soon I will share breaking news.”

Khan is incarcerated in Attock Jail after a district and sessions court found him “guilty” of corrupt practices in a case pertaining to the selling of state gifts. The court sentenced him to three years in prison and disqualified him from holding office for three years.

But the Islamabad High Court on August 29 suspended PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s three-year sentence in the Toshakhana case. But he was still in Attock Jail in cipher case.

Jugnu went on to add that the law should be equal for everyone, saying that the PTI chief was not above the law but he has the right to seek relief for himself.

“I also know that which powerful forces here in Europe and the US and people who are active in this campaign. Their names I think his sister and Khan Sb won’t take because it will reveal who are they and from they belong,” she said in reply to a query pertaining to the PTI chief’s release from prison.

When asked, Jugnu said: “When you are in the right direction no power can keep you in jail.”

Her comments echoed the claims of some rivals of the former prime minister who allege that the PTI has hired foreign firms to lobby their party and their leader in the West.

In the recent past, the PTI’s social media accounts have been seen sharing comments and video messages of US lawmakers demanding the rule of law in Pakistan after the May 9 protests that broke out after Khan’s arrest from within the premises of Islamabad High Court.

They also raised their voices months after Khan was ousted. The PTI social media accounts also shared clips and images where their party leaders in the West were seen meeting foreign lawmakers and urging them to raise voices for Pakistan’s situation.

The journalist confirmed to Aaj News that she was offered the post of caretaker prime minister and she thanked upon receiving the offer.

“I am thankful to all those who gave me so much respect and who proposed my name. I am thankful to them. We don’t have a job to be posted at the government positions. Our duty is to provide relief to the people at the grassroots, empower them, and become their facilitators,” she said.
