PTI chief Imran Khan still stuck to one demand
Imprisoned PTI chief Imran Khan was ready for talks with everyone but with only elections on the agenda, his lawyers said on Saturday.
“Finally met Khan sab at Attock Jail with other colleagues. Alhamdulillah, he is in great spirit but concern about ongoing uncertainty, inflation, and terrorism,” Barrister Gohar Khan posted on X. “He is willing to talk to all BUT about election.”
The former prime minister remains imprisoned at Attock jail and continues to face several cases. Khan’s legal team has been making efforts to move him from Attock to Adiala Jail.
He was arrested on August 5 after a district and sessions court in Islamabad sentenced him to three years of imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs100,000 on him in a case pertaining Toshakhana case. The court found him “guilty of corrupt” corrupt practices in the case.
Meanwhile, Khan’s other lawyer Naeem Panjutha said that the former prime minister had denied the false news during the meeting.
“Someone was saying that he should apologise, he is scared, and he wants to leave the country. While denying all the news, he [Khan] said that his life and death were in Pakistan. ‘And said that we are ready to talk to everyone only on election’, but he was very worried about the ongoing uncertainty, inflation, terrorism and arrests,” he posted on X.
Intazar Hussan Panjutha quoted Khan as saying that he was ready to talk to any political party or institution about holding elections.
In a series of video of Naeem shared by the PTI on X, he said that Khan has refuted reports of any kind of deal with anyone
Earlier this week, the Islamabad High Court suspended Khan’s sentence.
But the PTI chief remains in jail in the cipher case, which pertains to a diplomatic document that reportedly went missing from Khan’s possession.
The Islamabad High Court has sought responses from the law ministry and other respondents on PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s application against the law ministry’s notification for allowing the cipher case trial to be heard in Attock Jail.
