Pakistan-British TikToker, mother jailed for life over double murder
A 24-year-old Pakistani-British TikTok influencer Mehak Bukhari, her mother Ansareen Bukhari, and two others were jailed for life in a pre-mediated murder case of two men, while three others were also given jail sentences for their unintentional involvement in the killings, reported the Guardian.
The double murder happened when Ansareen Bukhari was trying to wrap up her relationship with 21-year-old Saqib Hussain and he had threatened her to send sexually explicit photos to her husband if she did not repay him £3,000 he claimed he had spent on her.
Mehak, feeling her mother was being intimidated, set up a meeting with Hussain at a car park in Leicester, England, under the pretence of providing him money, but she arrived with a group of eight people. Many were wearing face coverings and at least one person was carrying a weapon.
When Hussain and his close friend Ijazuddin, who had offered to give him a lift, arrived at the car park they quickly fled the scene. But the dou was chased by the group at high speed leading to a fatal car crash.
Before the death, Hussain made a call to 999 and said: “There’s guys following me. They’ve got balaclavas on. They’re trying to ram me off the road. They’re trying to kill me – I’m going to die.”
Earlier, in August the court declared Bukhari and her mother the culprit in the murder case of two Hussian and Hashim. Both men belonging to Banbury in Oxfordshire died intently after their car hit a tree and flamed up.
Co-defendants Rekhan Karwan, 29, and Raees Jamal, 23, were also jailed for life with minimum terms of 26 years 10 months and 31 years respectively.
Passing a sentence on Friday afternoon, Judge Timothy Spacer KC said Mahek Bukhari’s “tawdry fame” through her career as an influencer had made her “utterly self-obsessed”.
The parents of Hussain and Ijazuddin expressed sorrow for their children’s murder.
