Better class facilities being provided to Khan in Attock jail, says AGP report
An attorney general of Pakistan’s report on the conditions of PTI chief Imran Khan in Attock Jail was submitted to the Supreme Court on Monday, which was due today.
It was submitted to CJP Bandial’s chamber and it was expected that Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial would shortly hear the case. According to the cause list available on the SC’s website, the CJP would not be part of routine cases this week.
A three-member bench headed by CJP Bandial and comprising Justice Mazahar Ali Naqvi and Justice Jamal Mandokhail ordered the AGP on August 24 to present a report on Khan’s condition by August 28.
The AGP’s report has found that better class facilities were being provided to PTI chief Imran Khan in Attock Jail, sources told Aaj News.
The report, which was formed as per the orders of the Supreme Court, added that the former prime minister was being served his favourite foods. He was being given a rich protein diet, like chicken and mutton, cooked in clarified butter.
The report further mentioned that Khan was allowed to walk in the corridor in front of his cell.
In an affidavit to the SC on August 5, PTI chief Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi requested the apex court to take notice of the life of her husband.
She was concerned about her husband’s health. The former first lady has claimed to have seen a significant decline in Khan’s health.
On August 5, Islamabad trial court’s judge Humayun Dilawar convicted Khan of three-year prison in a case pertaining to hiding information about Toshakhana gifts he received as prime minister from foreign countries. Subsequently, he was shifted to Attock Jail after being arrested from Lahore.
It merits here to mention that the PTI chief is seeking cancellation of his sentence in the case.
