Naseem Shah’s emotional message after heroics over Afghanistan
Naseem Shah finished off a thrilling match against Afghanistan in a splendid fashion, almost reminiscent of his heroics in the Asia Cup against the same opponent.
However, after the match he said something that left everyone with tears in their eyes.
Pakistan needed 11 runs in the last over with 9 wickets down against Afghanistan in Hambantota. However, tail ender Naseem held his nerve and edged the penultimate delivery for four to clinch the match.
Afterwards, the Pakistan Cricket Board shared a video on social media showing a dressing room erupt with emotion as the unlikely victory became real.
Among the energised members of the team jumping up and down in joy, the hero actually made it outside the boundary and sat down, exhausted. Among the noise, Iftikhar Ahmad said that Naseem was in the tem to deal with Afghanistan.
But then the camera came right up to Naseem. And he expressed a simple emotion.
I wish my mother was alive and coul have seen this, he said. He then added that he could say no more.
