Zardari and Nawaz should make it easier for me and Maryam: Bilawal
Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari need to make sure that they take such decisions which would make politics easier for him and PML-N’s Maryam Nawaz.
Speaking in the National Assembly on Monday, Bilawal said it seemed that same politics that had continued for the last 30 years would continue for the next 30 as well.
Bilawal said that former Prime Minister Imran Khan should have refrained from doing anything that would hurt democracy.
Bilawal added that Khan and his party had crossed red lines that had never been crossed in Pakistan’s history, even when dictatorships were imposed in the country.
He added that due to the events of May 9, steps had to be taken to establish the state’s writ in the country.
The foreign minister went on to add that when the multi-party alliance removed Khan from power they had chosen to do it through a vote of no-confidence instead of through the courts.
Bilawal said that despite what had happened, the opposition had not learnt its lesson.
He said that with elections approaching, things must go towards reconciliation.
“We must decide the rules of the game,” Bilawal said.
Bilawal said that the goal of making sure that each institution should operate within its own ambit had not been achieved during the coalition government’s tenure.
“How much time did we get to focus on the people’s issues?” he asked.
Bilawal added that he had recently said that Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari need to make sure that they take such decisions which would make politics easier for him and PML-N’s Maryam Nawaz.
He said that the youth, which makes up the largest segment of the population, was fast losing hope in the politics of the country. The politics must be done in a way that the youth of the country continue to have hope, he added.
