The Kandhkot police on Saturday recovered a child who was abducted by the dacoits in the riverine area a couple of days ago.

Police said that a team led by SSP Amjed Ahmed Sheikh carried out an operation in the Durrani Mehr area in Kandhkot of district Kashmore to rescue the kidnapped child identified as Sadaqat Hajanu after a video went viral of the child being tortured by the dacoits.

They went on to add that a fire exchange ensued during the operation during which the dacoits escaped.

The police rescued Hajanu from the dacoits’ hideout in the riverine area, while at least five suspects were detained during the operation.

Kandhkot of Kashmore tehsil, which connects with the district from the backside of the riverine, has been the target of the dacoits who constantly kidnap people for ransom. The police have struggled to counter the actions of the dacoits.
