Rupee records third consecutive loss in interbank market
The dollar continued to batter the rupee in the interbank foreign exchange market as the later recorded a decline of Rs1.84 on Wednesday.
The greenback was trading at Rs289.38 at the closing of the interbank market, compared with the closing of Rs287.54 the previous day.
This is the third consecutive losing day for the local unit as the demand for the dollar was on the rise for import payments.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Stock Exchange recorded another positive session on the back of improved investor’s sentiments.
The benchmark KSE-100 Index added 534.05 points, or 1.11%, to close at 48764.55 levels. The Index hit a high of 48852.05 and a low of 48178.88 in the midday trading.
Similarly, the KSE-30 Index gained 219.70 points, 1.27%, to close at 17479.59 points.
