Kandhkot police arrest man who faked his own kidnapping

The accused says he planned to extort money from family to clear debts

The Kandhkot Police on Wednesday arrested a man for faking his own kidnapping and demanding Rs2 million ransom from his own family and the police.

The police initiated the action after a video of the man went viral a day earlier, police said.

The police exposed the plan and apprehended Farman Bheo in Kandhkot of Kashmore district in Sindh. He was seen tied with ropes in the video.

Bheo, in a statement to the police said that he recorded himself tied with ropes and made the video viral.

He planned to stage his own fake kidnapping to extort money from his family and the police to pay off his debts worth Rs70,000, he added.

Meanwhile, law and order situation in Kandhkot remains precarious as kidnapping for ransom cases are on the rise.

People living and traveling through the riverine area in KandhKot are a regular target of the robbers for kidnappings and robberies.
