The construction of sports arena under the Sakhi Hasan flyover in North Nazimabad has been completed, said Hazim Bhangwar, Assistant Commissioner of North Nazimabad.

Since his arrival at Nazimabad as its AC, Bhangwar has taken the task of transforming the unused spaces under flyovers into recreational spots for the citizen.

“The construction of the sports complex will provide better recreational facilities to the youth. It will also pave the way for eliminating drug use under the bridges,” he said while speaking to Aaj News on Wednesday.

He went on to add that a plan to transform the Five Star Chowrangi into a recreational spot is also underway, which will be completely for the women.

The spaces under flyovers and overhead bridges in Karachi have been often left vacant or became dumping sites for garbage. Bhangwar has spearheaded several projects to transform such unused spaces.

At the newly built sports arena in North Nazimabad, citizens will be provided with spaces where they can play basketball, badminton and other indoor games. Citizen will also be able to enjoy refreshment as a coffee shop has also been built in the arena.

The area residents appreciated Bhangwar’s initiative, saying that the arena will promote healthy activities and sports.
