A petition challenging Zaka Ashraf’s appointment to the Pakistan Cricket Board management committee was filed in the Lahore High Court on Tuesday.

Although there are multiple petitions against the recent changes in the cricket board’s management pending in courts across the country already, the latest petition has something different.

The petition by Gul Zada has argued that Zaka Ashraf does not fulfill the minimum requirement to be eligible for each member of the board of governors. It says that Zaka Ashraf does not have a degree while a BA degree is required at the minimum.

The petition has asked the court to declare Ashraf’s appointment as null and void.

However, Justice Muhammad Raza Qureshi who was hearing the case opined that the case should be sent to Justice Shahid Kareem. The case was eventually sent to Chief Justice Muhammad Ameer Bhatti as there are multiple petitions against the PCB chairman election pending already.

The PCB chairman election was supposed to be held on June 27 but a stay order was issued by the Lahore High Court. Even though the stay order was removed on July 4, no new date for the election have been announced.
