Social media shares meories and personal struggles in wake of Alamgir Tareen’s death
Condolences continue to pour in from friends and associates of Alamgir Tareen who passed away in Lahore on Thursday.
While some who knew him as a professional, like Waqr Younis, described him as a thorough gentleman. Others went a step ahead and described the personal link they shared with him.
Cricketer Muhammad Rizwan offered a prayer in a video posted to Twitter.
“Till we meet again, sir!” he wrote.
He also revealed that he had asked Tareen to accompany him on Hajj. However, Tareen had said that Hajj was too close to make arrangements at that point.
Multan Sultan’s manager Haider Azhar described him as Humble noble and caring and someone who could make everyone feel comfortable.
“I will forever cherish our late night calls where we discussed everything from cricket to music to cars to my kids’ education to almond breads,” Azhar added.
“The world is a poorer place because of your loss.”
However, some like Shahbaz Taseer took the opportunity to discuss his own experience with the lowest point of his life.
“I think the lowest I have ever been in my life was on pain killers,” he said referring to his time in terrorist captivity.
“I still think when I sat down to take my life my father memory or spirit saved me. Just a voice inside my head saying don’t do it and I know it wasn’t my own because I had completely given up,” he wrote. He added that depression was a black hole that can consume a person.
That glue however is love and support from my family who make sure everyday that I’m ok and that if a piece falls they help put it back,“ he added. He also encouraged people to reach out to him for help.
