Iranian authorities have released a map showing an expanded maritime area they claim is now under Iranian control, stretching beyond the Strait of Hormuz to encompass lengthy sections of the UAE coastline, including two ports the Gulf state has relied on to bypass the blocked strait.

The newly claimed zone, demarcated by red lines on the Iranian map, extends to include the ports of Fujairah and Khorfakkan, both located on the Gulf of Oman.

Since the start of the conflict, the UAE has used the two ports to route oil and cargo around the blocked Strait of Hormuz.

Fujairah carries particular strategic weight as the terminal point of the Abu Dhabi Crude Oil Pipeline, which moves crude from inland fields to the coast.

The route has allowed the UAE to keep exporting oil to global markets throughout the conflict.

Earlier, a spokesman for the Iranian military said that all commercial ships and oil tankers should not move in the Strait of Hormuz without contacting Iran.

Iran has complete control over the Strait of Hormuz, and the US Navy should not even come close to it.

He warned that Iran would respond strongly to any threat to its sovereignty. Ebrahim Azizi said that US intervention in the Strait of Hormuz would be considered a violation of the ceasefire.

According to experts, the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf of Oman are important shipping routes for global energy supply.

During the recent regional tensions, the closure or control of these routes could have profound effects on global oil supplies and regional security.
