The federal cabinet, under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, has decided to convene a meeting on Monday.

The agenda for the meeting includes a discussion on nine key points, which encompass various important matters. Notably, the extension of Afghan refugees’ stay in Pakistan and the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Amendment Bill will also be part of the agenda.

The federal cabinet meeting aims to address the current political and economic situation in the country.

According to sources, the cabinet was expected to seek a vote of confidence on the Stand-By Arrangement with the International Monetary Fund.

The extension of Afghan refugees’ stay in Pakistan will be a significant aspect of the agenda. The initial two-year extension for Afghan refugees had expired on June 30, prompting the interior ministry to propose a six-month extension.

Furthermore, the inclusion of the HEC Amendment Bill in the agenda highlights the possibility of approving a five-year policy for national sports.

Another important point on the agenda is the plan to establish waste disposal facilities in Islamabad. This initiative is aimed at addressing the growing concern of waste management and environmental sustainability in the capital city.
