The Judicial Magistrate Karachi South approved a two-day physical remand of one of the suspects, Jibran, and handed him over to the police on Wednesday, in a case pertaining to the death of TikToker Ayesha.

Jibran and a woman had left Ayesha at Karachi’s Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) on June 24.

The CCTV footage showed that both Jibran and Sehrish fled after doctors told them that Ayesha was dead. She was suspected to have died of drug abuse during a party in a rented bungalow in DHA, Karachi.

Jibran was arrested later while the woman remain at large.

The police also arrested Ayesha’s husband Adil, a taxi driver.

On Wednesday, the police produced Jibran before the court, where they requested physical custody of the suspect for further investigations.

Jibran was arrested on June 26 in the investigation into the death of Ayesha.

The court approved a two-day physical remand of the suspect and directed the police to produce him before the court on June 30. The court also asked the investigation officer to submit a case report in the upcoming hearing.

In his statement before the court, Jibran said that he was not tortured during custody. He went on to add that trying to save the life of the woman became his crime.

The court inquired why didn’t he call the police or an ambulance, to which the defendant’s lawyer replied that the suspect was an illiterate individual due to which he could not contact the police. Jibran was just trying to help the deceased, he added.

The police started an investigation in the case when the JPMC staff informed them about the death of Ayesha.

On June 25, the Karachi police detained the husband of Ayesha from Karachi’s Golistan-e-Johar.

“Adil, the husband of deceased Ayesha, has been detained during a police operation in Gulistan-e-Johar,” SSP Karachi South Asad Raza said in a statement. “He [Adil] is unemployed and a drug addict. He was missing for days.”

The police also made Ayesha’s mother-in-law part of the investigation. The deceased’s mother-in-law, Nusrat Sobia, wanted no legal action in her daughter-in-law’s death case.

The police rejected her statement and refused to hand over the body to Nusrat, SSP Raza said.

“The body will be handed over to the deceased’s father. We are trying to register an FIR with the father as the plaintiff. If he refuses, the FIR will be registered with the government as the plaintiff,” he added.

The new development came to light in the case on June 27 when the police claimed to identify a suspect who booked the bungalow in Karachi’s DHA for holding a party where Ayesha allegedly died of drug abuse.

“The bungalow was booked for eight people for two days [June 23 – 24] where drugs were also consumed,” SSP South Raza told a press conference. “The suspect, who booked the bungalow, escaped to London the day Ayesha died.

The suspect had come to Karachi on a business trip, he said, adding: “He has a business set up in the UK and Dubai”.

On the same day, Sultan, the father of the deceased Ayesha, arrived at the Shahrah-e-Faisal’s Chippa morgue to receive his daughter’s body.

He said that his daughter was not a dancer or a drug addict. “Her husband would know if she consumed drugs. I am not in contact with Adil and have not met him yet.”

Sultan said that Ayesha had married Adil for love. The police have promised me justice, he added.

According to the statement of her mother-in-law, Ayesha was living in Gulistan-e-Johar with Nusrat and was working at a beauty parlour. She was also a TikToker.
