Loadshedding increases as temperatures continue to soar

Temperatures across the country are expected to steadily increase till June 24, with humidity also expected to persist.

The Met Office said on Thursday that the weather outlook was expected to stay hot and humid, with gusts of hot winds expected in plain areas the afternoon.

High humidity levels are expected along with rising temperatures, in Islamabad, Sindh, KP and Punjab. The weather in Balochistan is expected to stay hot and dry, with extreme temperatures expected in western and southern areas of the province.

However, rain is expected in QIlla Saifullah, Loralai, Zhob, Barkhana and multiple areas of Azad Kashmir.

Meanwhile, power division sources said on Wednesday that loadshedding duratins had increased to six to eight hours in urban areas and 10-12 areas in rural areas. Authorities said that the shortfall stood at 7,200 megawatts as of June 21.

The power division also said that the demand for electricity stood at 26,900 MW while only 19,700 MW were being produced.

The division also said that 5,800 MW were being generated through hydel sources, 10,500 MW through IPPs, 1,200 MW through thermal, while 2,200 MW were being generated from solar and wind sources.
