National Electric Power Regulatory Authority has announced that the price of electricy will go up by 70 paisas per unit.

However, the additional charge has only been levied for one month. It will be factored into the bills for the month of May as fuel price adjustment.

The increase will not apply to consumers of Karachi Electric.

Electricity prices in Pakistan are determined, among other things, by the price of fuel which is mostly imported. The price of fuel is in turn affected by the the Rupee’s exchange against the Dollar which fluctutates with the country’s overall economy and its foreign exchange reserves.

Oil prices decreased at utility stores

The Utility Stores Corporation issued a notification for the decrease in prices of branded ghee and cooking oil on Thursday.

The price of ghee has been decreased by Rs69 while the price of cooking oil will be decreased by Rs18 to Rs76.

The decrease in prices will be effective immediately.
