Former prime minister Imran Khan was arrested from the premises of the Islamabad High Court by security forces in a graft case.

Khan was arrested under a warrant issued over a week ago, however, apparently Khan and his associate didn’t know about its existence.

The former prime minister probably was aware of the development as he had recorded a statement before his arrest.

The Islamabad IG confirmed the arrest of Khan while claiming that the situation was normal in the federal capital.

He warned that action would be taken against the violators of Section 144 (ban on the gathering of people), which is imposed in the city.

Supporters of PTI have started protesting in major cities against the arrest of Khan.

The National Accountability Bureau has formed a medical board after taking Khan into custody.
