PTI to protest in all 101 UCs of Islamabad on May 14
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf asked Islamabad’s district administration on Monday to grant permission for protests each of the 101 unioin councils in the capital on May 14.
The date of the protest coincides with the date set by Supreme Court for elections to the dissolved assemblies in Punjab.
A copy of the letter seeking permission seen by Aaj News says that it intends to hold a peaceful assembly on May 14 at 4pm.
The letter also tells the administration that holding a peaceful protest is a fundamental right and the SC has already told district administrations to make decisions while making sure that they do not interfere with fundamental rights of citizens.
The letter also says that the PTI has held 150 protests in the capital in the last year and ‘not once a single pot was broken’.
PTI Chairman Imran Khan has already said that he will take to the streets if the Supreme COurt decision to hold elections in Punjab is not implemented.
The PTI is already facing a case in court over violating its permission to hold a protest in Islamabad on on May 25, 2022. The government has told the court that an agreement had been made for H-9 but Imran Khan’s rally proceeded to D-Chowk anyway.
