Forces kill TTP commander, arrest ‘highly wanted’ terrorists
Pakistan Army killed a major commander of Tehreek-e-Taliban (Gandapur) in an intelligence based operation in Dera Ismail Khan on Monday, according to Inter-Services Public Relations.
The commander was identified as Jabbar Shah and had been involved in attacks on security forces, shia community and polio workers, the statement said. Two terrorists were also injured in the attack.
The operation was carried out in Daraban area of DI Khan. An operation in the same area a few days ago had killed two militants as well.
Another statement from the ISPR said that an intelligence based operation was conducted Miran Shah, North Waziristan District. The operation resulted in the arrests of seven terrorists.
The arrested militants include Mehtab alias Lala of the Hafiz Gul Bahadur Group, the ISPR said.
“The apprehended terrorists have been involved in numerous terrorist activities, especially target killings against security forces as well as innocent citizens, and were highly wanted by the security agencies,” the statement said.
Operations against terrorists, especially IBOs have increased in number in recent days as Pakistan grapples with the latest wave of terror attacks.
