Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani floated the option of of negotiations between government parties and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf inside the parliament premises, reports said on Wednesday.

Sanjrani was reportedly approached by Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz leaders Azam Nazeer Tarrar and Khawaja Saad Rafique on Wednesday to play his role in creating an atmosphere that could solve the current plitical crises.

Sanjrani suggested that both government parties and PTI could nominate committees comprising of five senatoras each and talks could be held inside the parliament.

Reports also said that after the consulation with Tarrar and Rafique, the chairman reached out to PTI leaders Asad Umar, Shehzad Waseem and Shah Mahmood Qureshi to discuss the proposal.

Qureshi told Sanjrani that PTI Chairman Imran Khan has alread constituted a three-member committee to hold talks with the representatives of the government. The committee includes Qureshi along with Fawad Chaudhry and Barrister Ali Zafar.

The moves could finally lead to a breakthrough between the two groups to break the political deadlock that has dominated the country’s politics over elections in Punjab. Sources also said that PMLN’s Ayaz Sadiq has also been separately reachign out to parties to begin a dialogue.

Earlier reports have suggested that the ruling alliance is itself divided over whether PTI should engaged in talks. PPP has favoured dialogue while JUI(F) has refused to accept Imran Khan as a legitimate political force and therefore not worth engaging with.

Imran Khan has also maintained a hard line on negotiations for the past few months saying that the only thing worth discussing is the election date. However, the formation of the new committee could be a sign of things finally moving towards dialogue.

The Supreme Court has already told politicians that it will stick to its May 14 date for elections in Punjab but given political parties time to find a negotiated solution.
