If you are thinking to end your Twitter subscription and wondering about the consequences, then this article might be helpful.

Let’s just go through the Twitter subscription first. It is an idea implemented by owner Elon Musk to generate revenue for the company. Twitter charges $8 per month for the verification badge or a blue tick.

There are some noticeable perks to it, like editing tweets or long-form tweets apart from just a verification badge.

However, if you are willing to end the subscription and are fearing you’ll lose the blue badge and all those perks, then we might have some good news for now.

About eight former Twitter Blue subscribers have spoken to NBC News and they still have their badges even after ending the service a while back. It is not clear for how long will they be able to keep their badges.

Ryan Garcia is one of them who bought Twitter Blue, which offers verification and other features, in a bid to reach a wider audience.

Despite discontinuing the service in February, he still has the blue tick. Interestingly, he gained verification through the service.

“If I woke up tomorrow and I saw my verification badge was gone, I would be overjoyed,” Garcia said.

Sharing their subscription experience, they said that it took days-long reviews when they want to change either their profile picture or their display name.

The only thing they are missing so far is that they no longer have access to an edit button or long-form tweets, which are perks of the subscription.

Technology news website Gizmodo first documented that some Twitter Blue users retained their verification after canceling their subscriptions.

According to Washington Post, the verification is removed through a mostly manual process, and the system that powers that process is prone to breaking.

Some former Twitter Blue subscribers said they’ve reached out to Twitter support for help removing their badges and Twitter Blue features with no response.
