The PPP has issued a show-cause notice to Nabil Gabol for using inappropriate comments during a recent interview on YouTube.

While replying to a question, Gabol was recorded as saying, “When rape is imminent, just enjoy it.”

His statement sparked a controversy on social media prompting swift condemnation from the wider public, including Fatima Bhutto and Bakhtawar Bhutto-Zardari.

Following that, PPP Sindh President Nisar Khuhro issued a show-cause notice to Gabol, calling on him to explain his use of such language within three days or face disciplinary action.

During the session on a YouTube channel, he was asked whether political parties had been “used” by only to be discarded if this was an issue.

“I will answer this with an English proverb. When rape is imminent, just enjoy it,” he replied.

The host intervened by saying “there was no such proverb”, but Gabol insisted: “Yes there is.”

He explained: “If you have the tolerance for it and if your body can endure it, you should. But if you have any dignity, you will speak up against it. I don’t believe in the claim that someone is being forced. Even if you are being forced, you must stand your ground.”

Condemnations

Gabol was under hot water on social media, after the interview, as well-known personalities took to Twitter to express their disgust.

Taking to Twitter, Bakhtawar wrote: “His (repulsive) rhetoric belongs to his individual only and is in no way a representation of our party.”

Whereas, Fatima said: “Utter filth. Nabil Gabol exposes the absolute criminal mindset of Sindh’s government.”
