Police arrest suspect after firing near Atta Tarar's vehicle in Lahore
1 min readThe Lahore police on Sunday arrested a suspect after a firing incident near the vehicle of Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar in Lahore’s Defence A area.
According to police, the incident occurred late Saturday night when a young man driving a car allegedly overtook the minister’s vehicle and opened fire.
Following the incident, police launched a search operation using Safe City Authority surveillance cameras and advanced tracking technology, leading to the arrest of the suspect, identified as Usama.
The vehicle allegedly used in the incident was also taken into custody.
The police also claimed to have recovered the weapon used in the incident.
Confirming the incident, Tarar said he was travelling with his family in the Defence area when a car overtook his vehicle from the left side, and the occupant allegedly fired five shots.
The minister said he immediately chased the suspect’s vehicle and alerted a nearby police checkpoint, after which police intercepted and arrested the suspect.
Police said an investigation is under way to determine the motive behind the firing and whether it was merely an act of aerial firing or if another intention was involved.
