Pakistan Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and newly elected First Minister Humza Yousaf have vowed to grow Pakistan and Scotland ties stronger.

Both officials made this statement on Twitter in the wee hours of Friday.

Bilawal congratulated Humza on becoming the first Pakistan-origin First Minister of Scotland.

He wrote: “Wishing you all the best for your term in Bute House and looking forward for strong partnership in the domains of trade, investment, culture, and education.”

Humza said that he always has a special place in his heart for Pakistan.

“Thank you for your kind words Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Pakistan will always have a special place in my heart. Scotland’s relationship with Pakistan is a friendship that has blossomed through many generations, I look forward to it growing stronger.”

It is worth mentioning here that Humza Yousaf was sworn in as leader of Scotland on Wednesday. He won the Scottish National Party (SNP) leadership election on Monday, was elected first minister by lawmakers on Tuesday, and the administering of the three oaths of office at the Court of Session, in Edinburgh on Wednesday made his appointment official.

In the customary ceremony at the highest court in Scotland, Yousaf pledged his allegiance to King Charles III. His family watched on from the public gallery. The oath was administered by Lord Carloway, who heads up the judiciary in Scotland.
