Morne Morkel set to become Pakistan’s bowling coach: report
The Pakistan cricket team’s coaching staff continues to undergo a major revamp as South Africa legend Morne Morkel is reportedly set to join the Men in Green as a bowling coach.
The development was made as Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) set to ink a deal with former head coach Mickey Arthur. Morkal’s appointment is also part of the deal.
Moreover, former South Africa batter Andrew Puttick is also set to get on board as the team’s batting coach.
According to ESPNCricinfo, the new coaching setup is designed in such a manner that Arthur will play the role of team director remotely. He is currently coaching Derbyshire.
The other overseas staffers include former Pakistan fielding coach Grant Bradburn – he will be the head coach – while Cliffe Deacon (physiotherapist) and Drikus Saaiman (strength and conditioning) will continue with their jobs.
As for Morkel, he will formally join the national side after his IPL commitment as a bowling coach at Lucknow Super Giants.
Pakistan were without a full-time coaching staff since the contracts of Saqlain Mushtaq and Shaun Tait were not renewed.
