Legendary actor Qavi Khan dies at 80

He had been diagnosed with cancer and was undergong treatment

Legendary actor Qavi Khan, a veteran of both film and TV, passed away at 80 years of age on Sunday.

Khan had been diagnosed with cancer a while back and was undergoing treatment in Canada.

Born in 1942 in Peshawar, Qavi began his career with Radio Pakistan. He was also one of the first faces of Pakistan Television Network.

He was a recipient of the Pride of Performance and had also been nominated for the Nishan-e-Pakistan, Pakistan’s highest civilian honour, this year.

Alhtough a Yousafzai pakhtoon by birth, he acted in Urdu and even Punjabi films in his career.

He appeared in films such as Society Girl, Sarfarosh and Chan Suraj.

He also appeared in PTV’s Lakhon Main Teen and Andhera Ujala and even had a brief cameo in Alif Noon.

His last role was in Hum TV’s Pehchaan, which aired in 2022.
