The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has decided to arrest Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan in a prohibited funding case Monday (today), Aaj News has learnt.

A four-member team of FIA Lahore has been formed on the instructions of the Interior Ministry, sources said.

The FIA team led by Director Lahore Sarfraz Khan Virk, with help from Lahore police, is tasked to arrest Imran Khan. After the arrest, the PTI chairman would be handed over to the Islamabad team.

FIA sources said that the team had earlier planned to arrest Imran from Zaman Park, but in view of the strong reaction from the workers, now he would be arrested after appearing in the Lahore High Court (LHC).

Moreover, the FIA and the police have completed preparations in this regard. Senior officials of the FIA and police have also completed consultations with various lawyers’ organizations in this regard to avoid any confrontation with the lawyers.

The case was lodged by FIA Commercial Banking Circle Islamabad.

Besides Imran, PTI leaders Senator Saifullah Niazi, Sardar Tariq, Syed Younis, Aamir Kayani, Tariq Shafi, and members of the party’s financial team and manager of a private bank have been nominated in the case.

The First Information Report (FIR) of the case stated that the accused violated Foreign Exchange Act and all of the nominated persons were beneficiaries of the private bank account.
