A 74-year-old woman appeared before the Sindh High Court over the ownership dispute of a house located in DHA Phase-V after her son and daughter-in-law filed a petition against a lower court verdict that declared the house belonged to the septuagenarian.

The sessions court judgment was challenged by the woman’s son Kamran and his wife Tehmina before the Sindh High Court which approved it for hearing on Friday. The proceedings will commence within the next two weeks.

The court has assigned a red cover to the case, indicating that it was a high-priority case.

Advocate Ghulam Murtaza Korai, who is representing Nusrat, 74, said that the woman’s son and daughter-in-law were not only trying to take away her house but had subjected her to physical abuse in the past.

At least two incidents of assault took place before she approached the district commissioner, said Korai.

The district commissioner ruled in favor of the woman and instructed her son and daughter-in-law to vacate the house, according to the lawyer.

Kamran and Tehmina challenged the decision before the sessions court, but the court, too, rejected their claim, Advocate Korai said.

The lawyer pleaded with the high court to dismiss the appeal filed by Kamran and his wife against the sessions court judgment.

“The case of my client should receive top priority because she is a 74-year-old senior citizen,” he said.

The court has approved the appeal for hearing, though it assigned it a high priority.
