Pakistan’s transgender people to receive BISP support

Eligible for quarterly payments of Rs7,000

The Benazir Income Support Program has decided to include transgender people exclusively in the Benazir Sponsorship Program under which they can receive Rs7,000 on a quarterly basis.

Pakistan registered transgender people or Khwaja Sira for the first time in the 2017 population census, according to which their number was about 10,000. But under the Benazir Income Support Program, however, the number of transgender people is 53,800, according to the recently completed National Socio-Economic Survey.

The PMT score limit has been waived exclusively for them. They are eligible if they are over 18 years old.

How to register for BISP as a transgender

Go to a NADRA office and register as a transgender. Your CNIC has to mention you as a transgender person.

Then go to the BISP tehsil or the relevant office and register as a transgender at the registration desk.

After you successfully register you will receive a message from the BISP from the number 8171. After this you will get an amount of Rs7000 in assistance from BISP.

You will receive a message from 8171 telling you where you can receive the money.

On January 8, the BISP released a statement saying its first quarterly installments of Rs7,000 for the Benazir Kafaalat for the year 2023 would be given from Monday, Jan 9. About 7.7 million families would receive over Rs55 billion in the first payments.

The beneficiary women and khwaja sira of Islamabad, Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan will receive this support from Payment Centers or Biometric ATMs designated by Habib Bank. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, the amount will be disbursed through Payment Centers or Biometric ATMs of Bank Al-Falah.

Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety/Chairperson BISP Shazia Marri stressed that the beneficiaries should receive their entire amount and should not forget to get their payment receipt.

She said that people should be aware that no deduction will be made on this amount and there is no payment fee. If any person demands any kind of deduction or fee for payment, beneficiaries should immediately report this to the BISP’s toll free helpline 080026477 and contact the nearest BISP Tehsil Office.

BISP messages will only come from this number: 8171. No message from any other number or code should be trusted, as it is fake and fraudulent.
