Boy hacked to death after exam ‘chit’ mistaken for love-letter
PATNA: A 12-year-old boy was chopped to death in Bhojpur district allegedly by the family members of a girl student, who was sitting in the half-yearly examination and mistook his chit landing near her desk in the classroom as a ‘love letter’.
The police recovered his body parts strewn along the nearby railway track on Monday and arrested nine people involved in the murder, The Times of India reported on Wednesday.
The police said that the victim Daya Kumar of Udwantnagar police station area had gone with his elder sister to the local upgraded middle school to help her in the exam on October 13.
The boy was enrolled in another school in class five.
“As the exam began, the boy threw out a chit towards his sister to help her in the exam. However, the chit fell near another girl, who mistook it as a love letter and complained about it to her brothers,” Gajrajganj outpost in-charge Chandan Kumar told the Indian publication over the phone.
The girl’s brothers reached the spot and badly assaulted the boy and allegedly kidnapped him, it reported quoting police sources and victim family members said. His body parts were recovered four days after the incident, police said.
The arrested people include four juveniles and the rest of the girl’s family members, the police officer said. The juveniles were sent to remand homes, the youths were forwarded to jail.
